Our company has been doing business in Lynchburg, Virginia since 1993.  The company was doing business as Hensley Accounting Services prior to its incorporation in January, 1998.  The company incorporated as Accounting and Computer Enterprises, Inc. to include our computer and Internet focus in our new name.

We are a 100% women-owned business with two principal owners, Nancy L. Saltz, President and Anne J. Saltz, Vice President.  Although we work with businesses of all types, we pride ourselves in our ability to offer a special perspective to women who have decided to conduct business on the Internet.

Soon after our incorporation and name change, we began also doing business as Central Virginia Business Directory, which is a Division of Accounting & Computer Enterprises, Inc. providing free listings as well as advertising opportunities for Central Virginia businesses.

Accounting and Computer Enterprises, Inc. offers a unique approach to web page design.  As strange as it may sound, our strength as a web presence provider is precisely because our backgrounds are not primarily in the computer industry.  Although we have been programming and working with computers and computer-based applications since the late 1960's, our experience is in business and accounting rather than computers.  Our education has been largely in the liberal arts, mathematics, economics and accounting.

This background gives us several advantages. First, our broad base of business experience  affords us the ability to understand a business's reason for needing to have an Internet presence.  Each company has it's own business strategies and goals, so each web site should be different and should reflect those company goals.

Second, because we have had significant experience talking with business management about technical issues, we know how to explain technical computer topics in a way that that makes sense to our clients. 

Third, we can offer business advise related to a company's Internet site that goes beyond the services normally provided by Internet design companies.  We have worked with banks and credit card transactions so that we can help companies which want to venture into e-commerce (taking master card and electronics checks over the Internet).  We have prepared corporate tax returns, payroll returns and sales tax returns, so we know how to advise you when your Internet transactions cross state lines.  Our experience in auditing has taught us the importance of security as it relates to secure Internet transactions and proper accounting controls.

Fourth, because we understand the need to go beyond simply designing your web site, we can also help you promote and market your site. Your web site is an important company asset.  We will treat it that way.

One of the first steps in that process will be to link your new web site to your listing in the Central Virginia Business Directory.  We will also work with you to select keywords, text and "Meta tags" to aid in the listing of your site in major search engines.  We will show you how to find the directories related to your industry as well as many other methods which can be used to announce to the world that you have arrived on the Internet and plan to be noticed!
